Course description
As the incidence of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolically based chronic diseases skyrocket, health care providers have been part of many strategies to arrest this devastating trend. More recently, there is growing public interest in exploring a ‘food first’ approach to actively treating these diseases, and a growing evidence base to support the use of personalized, therapeutic nutrition to achieve remission as a clinical goal. Learners will be introduced to the concept of personalized, therapeutic nutrition and the role that food and eating plays in chronic disease management, with a focus on patient safety. Course description
This facilitated, online, discipline-specific workshop is spread over 3 to 4 sessions. The pre-requisite for registration is the successful completion of Level 1: Foundations in Therapeutic Nutrition. Learners who meet this requirement will be emailed an invitation and link to register for Level 2. In this workshop, learners will engage in case-based learning, culminating with a brief case study presentation by each participant. Workshop size is limited to provide a quality learning experience and allows for consolidation of skills and experience between each session. Workshop facilitators are discipline-specific clinicians / educators with advanced knowledge and skills in therapeutic nutrition. Information about the continuing professional development activities that are recognized for Re-Certification will be provided when the Certificate in Therapeutic Nutrition is awarded.
